Some South Florida residents are crying foul over electricity bills that have climbed significantly.

Residents of Lake Worth Beach pay the city for its power, not FPL or any other company. But the city gets its natural gas out of Orlando and that has quadrupled in the past few months from what it's been over the past decade.

"It's upsetting. It's very upsetting. It's a lot of money. It's a large increase."

Thomas Arabia spoke with CBS 12 News after seeing his bill, saying that it nearly doubled from previous months.

City officials say they are paying so much more to provide that energy to residents that they had no choice but to vote to hike bills.

"Our utility director came and said look we have no option. We have no reserves to dip into to pay that. So the only option we have is to pass that cost on to consumers."

Vice Mayor Christopher McVoy says most bills have gone up by $20 to $25 a month.
